Water Main Work Nearly Completed. Roadway Improvements to Begin Soon.

Work Completed, May 22nd to May 25th
·         Main line water main completed
·         Connections to existing water mains on side streets on-going.
·         Water service replacements completed from Culver Lane to Palmgren Drive
·         Water service replacements completed along Colfax Avenue
·         Began testing for water main from Palmgren Drive to Dewes Street to place into service once necessary approvals are received.
·         Continued installing temporary asphalt patching over water main trench.

Work Anticipated to be completed, May 30th to June 2nd  
·         Complete testing and receive required approvals for water main from Palmgren Drive to Dewes Street
·         Perform water service replacements from Palmgren Drive to Dewes Street
·         Abandon existing water main that is no longer in service
·         Storm sewer improvements.

Water service replacements will continue next week. Water services will be replaced from the new water main to the existing valve and box located in front of each home. During the water service replacement, water to individual homes will be shut-off for approximately 2-3 hours while the transition from the old service to the new service is made. The contractor will notify each resident individually regarding the approximate time and day of the water shut-off prior to turning off the water.

The water services will be directionally drilled under the existing pavement. In order to for this work to be performed, the contractor will be setting up equipment on your lawns and need to park equipment in your driveways. In order to minimize and potential damage, the equipment will be placed on sheets to wood. The contractor will notify you prior to any driveway access restricts and will restore any damage to the lawns.

There are a few minor storm sewer improvements to complete. Once the storm sewer and water main work is completed, the underground utility improvements will be completed. Then construction will move into the roadway improvements phase which includes concrete curb & gutter replacement at selected locations, concrete base patching, removing the existing asphalt surface, and paving a new asphalt surface.

Water Main Line Installation Nearly Completed. Water Service Replacements Continue


Work Completed, May 15th to May 19th  
·         Main line water main installation completed except for block between Henley Street and Dewes Street
·         Installed new water main along Colfax Avenue from Nora Avenue to Harlem Avenue
·         Water service replacements completed from Golf Road to Culver Lane
·         Perform necessary testing and received approvals to place water main into service from Culver Lane to Palmgren Drive and along Colfax Avenue.
·         Replaced water service to strip mall located at Harlem Avenue and Glenview Road
·         Continued installing temporary asphalt patching over water main trench.

Work Anticipated to be completed, May 22nd to May 26th
·         Complete main line water main between Henley Street and Dewes Street
·         Perform necessary testing and receive required approvals for water main from Dewes Street to Palmgren Drive
·         Continue to perform water service replacements from Culver Lane to Palmgren Drive
·         Abandon existing water main that is no longer is service
·         Continue installing temporary asphalt over stone trenches.
·         Begin permanent concrete base patching from Golf Road going north

Temporary asphalt trench paving will continue to be perform which will provide a smoother driving surface and reduce the amount of dust.

We understand the dust has been a major concern for the residents living along the project site. Please be assured the Village takes these concerns very seriously and is working with the contractor to resolve the situation as best as possible. Water Main Installation and Water Service Replacement Continues. Temporary Patching On-Going.

Work Completed, May 1st to May 5th   
·         Water Main installation continued north to Linneman Street
·         Made connections to existing water main at ITW site and McArthur Drive.
·         Performed required testing and received necessary approvals to place water main into service from ITW property to Culver Lane
·         Installed water main along Colfax Avenue to Nora Avenue
·         Installed asphalt pavement patching along project site.
·         Began water service replacements from ITW property to Culver Lane.

Work Anticipated to be completed, May 8th to May 12th
·         Continue to install new water main to side streets from Culver Lane to Linneman Street
·         Continue to install fire hydrants from Culver Lane to Linneman Street.
·         Continue with water main installation from Linneman Street to Dewes Street.
·         Water service replacements from northern ITW property to Culver Lane.

Water Main Installation Continues. Pavement Patching Started

Work Completed last week, April 24th to 28th  
·         Continued to install water main from Culver Lane to Robincrest Lane
·         Performed necessary testing and acquiring needed approvals prior to placing water main into service from Glenview Road to Dewes Street
·         Replaced water services from Golf Road to north end of ITW property on west side of Harlem
·         Began installing temporary asphalt over aggregate trenches

Work Anticipated to be completed, May 1st to May 5th  
·         Continue with water main installation from Robincrest Lane to Dewes Street
·         Perform necessary testing of installed water main from north end of ITW property to Culver Lane
·         Continue with pavement patching of aggregate trenches with temporary asphalt
·         Perform hydrant removals and abandonments of existing water main no longer in service
·         Connect to existing water main at McArthur Drive and ITW property

The contractor has dropped down to one crew installing water main at this time.

The contractor also will not have a water service crew working at the beginning of next week because all services that can be replaced at this time have been completed. The contractor will continue perform the necessary testing and receive the required approvals to continue installing water services to the north.

The contractor has started and will continue to install temporary asphalt within the aggregate trenches. As this work is performed, the amount of the dust will be greatly reduced and the road will be better riding. This asphalt is only temporary until the permanent patching and resurfacing occurs later in the summer.
