Concrete Curb and Gutter and Sidewalk Replacements On-Going

Work Performed, July 24^th to July 28^th 

·         Concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk replacement along the east side of Harlem Avenue from Harrison Street to Larkdale Drive

·         Traffic Signal Improvements at the intersections of Glenview Road & Harlem Avenue, Dewes Street & Harlem Avenue, Central Road & Harlem Avenue.

Work Anticipated to be Performed, July 31^st to August 4^th 

·         Continue with concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk replacement on the east side of Harlem Avenue from Larkdale Drive to Glenview Road.

·         Continue with traffic signal improvements.

As the concrete replacement work continues, some residents will not have driveway access for approximately 5 to 7 days while the concrete is removed, poured, and allowed significant time to cure. Residents will be notified by the Village of Glenview prior to removing any concrete in front of your driveway that will restrict access for an extended period of time. The notification will include dates and times to have vehicles removed from the driveway, available parking options, and anticipated timeframe access will be restored.

Concrete Curb and Gutter and Sidewalk Replacement Continues

Work Performed, July 17^th to July 21^st

·         Re-mobilization of materials and equipment

·         Re-establish traffic control

·         Concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk removal on the east side of Harlem Avenue from Harrison Street to Larkdale Drive.

Work Anticipated to be Performed, July 24^th to July 28^th

·         Pour concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk that was previously removed.

·         Continue to remove concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk along the east side of Harlem Avenue to Glenview Road.

·         Begin removal of concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk along the west side of Harlem Avenue from Glenview Road to the south.

Work Resumes This Week with Concrete Replacements

As you are likely aware, the State of Illinois passed a budget during the evening hours of July 6^th. Having a passed state budget allowed for construction to continue on State / Federally funded projects like this one.

Unfortunately, due to the timing of the State Budget passing and the workload that was scheduled by the contractors during the shut-down period, work was not able to begin last week, July 10^th through 14^th.

Work will begin again this week.

Work Performed, July 10^th to 14^th  

·         None

·         Due to IDOT shut-down, timing of passed state budget, and contractor workloads, work was unable to resume last week.

·         Re-mobilization of materials and equipment

·         Concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk replacement on the east side of Harlem Avenue from Harrison Street to Glenview Road.

Work Suspended Due to IDOT Shut-Down

Work Performed, June 26^th to June 30^th

·         Completed concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk replacements from Harrison Street to Golf Road

·         Re-establish traffic control devices

·         Repair asphalt patching as needed

·         Demobilize equipment.

·         General Site clean-up.

Due to the lack of a state budget agreement, all construction projects with State/Federal funding have been instructed to suspend construction by Friday, June 30 until a budget or other spending measure is passed by legislators.

The Harlem Road project includes State/Federal funding; therefore, construction is being suspended as of Friday, June 30.  The Village of Glenview has taken the following actions to prepare for the construction work suspension.

• Sidewalks and driveways that were removed have been restored to a temporary or permanent condition, so that travel ways and private driveways are fully accessible during the shutdown.
• Idled equipment and materials have been removed from the jobsite or moved to a safe and secure location, away from the travel ways to the extent possible.

The Village of Glenview will continue to monitor the budget situation and will update you on any progress made to resolve the conflict and get the project restarted.
