While the detour is up, the contractor will be milling the existing asphalt surface to a depth of 2-inches. The contractor will then remove the previously installed temporary asphalt pavement over the water main excavation.  Once the temporary pavement is removed, a permanent concrete base will be installed along the water main excavations. The contractor will also perform base repairs of the existing asphalt pavement prior to installed the first layer of asphalt pavement.

During the excavation, concrete installation, and curing period over the water main excavation, steel plates will be installed at each driveway and intersection to allow for vehicular access. There will be times when access will not be possible at certain intersections and driveways while construction is on-going.  Access is anticipated to be re-established at the end of each work day.

We ask that all residents along Harlem Avenue and general public traveling along Harlem Avenue to please allow for additional travel times while construction is on-going and the detour is established. It is recommend an alternate route is utilized if possible.

Residents will continue to be notified via a hand-delivered letter by the Village of Glenview should driveway access be restricted during concrete curb & gutter or sidewalk replacement.

There has been some miscommunication regarding the schedule of work to be performed.  The Village has had several conversations to ensure the work is performed in the proper order to allow for pedestrian access.  Please be assured, the Village will do everything possible to ensure the sidewalk is poured as quickly as possible along the east side of the project prior to removing additional concrete curb & gutter and sidewalk on the west side of the street.

We anticipate the detour will be set-up in the next 2 to 3 weeks and will last approximately 1 month.
